Embracing Gratefulness: Celebrating Connections and Joy with the Finance & Budget Committee

CREW Detroit

As CREW Detroit embraces the theme of gratefulness for 2024, we take a moment to reflect on the profound impact this network has had on its members. In this article, we hear from Lisa Drouillard, Finance & Budget Board Director, and Christa Amalio, a dedicated Committee Member, as they share their experiences and personal reflections on what makes CREW such a valuable community.

The Role of the Finance & Budget Committee

The Finance and Budget Committee provides a foundation of financial stability by coordinating the annual budgeting process and maintaining CREW Detroit operations in compliance with the policies, procedures, financial goals and budget established by the chapter. Working with CREW Network, the Committee maintains a detailed and consistent method of record keeping and monthly reporting to the Board of Directors.  Additionally, the Committee serves as a liaison to each CREW Detroit committee to assist in event budgeting, communicate and understand budget expectations and financial analyses.

Lisa Drouillard: A Decade of Connection and Growth

For Lisa Drouillard, the journey with CREW over the past ten years has been marked by deep gratitude for the relationships she has built. "I have always been grateful to CREW and all of the great people I have met over my 10 years as a member," Lisa shares. "The connections I have made truly helped me throughout my career with both their support and encouragement."

Her advice to newcomers or those re-engaging with CREW is simple but powerful: get involved. "CREW is all about helping its members become the best versions of themselves," she explains. "The best way to find this benefit is to get involved! No matter which committee you connect with, CREW is a safe place in our industry to get inspired, receive help, and gain insight into your career and aspirations."

On a personal note, Lisa finds joy in the cherished moments spent with her family. "My joy lately has been whenever my whole family is together," she says. With her children now in college and leading busy lives, these family gatherings have become increasingly precious to her.

Christa Amalio: Embracing Connections and Mindfulness

Christa Amalio, a Committee Member, expresses her gratitude for the diverse and inspiring women she has met through CREW. "I am most grateful to meet and connect with so many versatile women and learn about their career roles and the roles they fulfill within CREW," Christa reveals. "I'm inspired at every event and interaction I have with this fantastic network of people."

Christa advises newcomers and those reconnecting with CREW to immerse themselves fully in the community. "Attend as many events as possible, interact with as many individuals as you can, and accept every invitation offered from this network," she suggests. "Having conversations and making connections is what CREW is all about. Often, we are hesitant to step out of our comfort zones, but CREW has been one of the most positive and inviting groups I've experienced."

Recently, Christa has found joy in her journaling practice. "For many months, I have been journaling each morning," she explains. "I write notes about gratitude, goals for the day, and reflections about the day prior. This has helped me set up for a successful and mindful day and made me more aware of the joys in my life."

As we reflect on the theme of gratefulness, the experiences and insights of Lisa and Christa highlight the profound impact CREW has on its members. Whether through personal connections, professional growth, or simple moments of joy, CREW continues to be a beacon of inspiration and support in the commercial real estate industry.
