Event Recap: Mind Your Business Panel Discussion
Industry leaders met on February 28th, 2024 for an informative discussion sharing their path to business ownership and reflecting on the challenges and rewards of disrupting the status quo to become your own boss. This discussion provided strategies for navigating common entrepreneurial challenges, as well as options for achieving long term success, and tips to protect that success as your business grows. Our panelists provided their key takeaways from this event.
Lynnette Boyle: My biggest takeaways were that we have to be willing to start, pause, adjust and evaluate, frequently. Its not a straight line. Second, that the lessons are my own. Third, humility is teachability.
Melinda Saylor: Observing the audience, I marveled at the abundance of talent assembled before me. The power of Crew, an organization where relationships and friendships flourish in mutual support, was truly remarkable. Each participant contributed to my learning, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been part of it.
Heather Greene: Get comfortable being uncomfortable & lean into your network don’t be afraid to ask for help or ideas!
Sara Faircloth: Don’t Be Afraid to Fail. Continue the Path through the bad times, it will get better. Know Your Worth. It’s ok to say NO!
Alexis Johnson: Don’t be a toaster professional (taking every piece of business that pops up), specialize and hone your craft. Expect failure, so you can prepare for it and use it to your advantage, as well as a tool for growth. Abundance over scarcity mindset will win every time.
