Empowering Growth: How CREW Detroit’s Professional Development Committee Champions Purposeful Impact

In a fast-moving industry like commercial real estate, meaningful progress doesn’t happen by accident—it’s built intentionally, through leadership, mentorship, and connection. That’s exactly what CREW Detroit’s Professional Development Committee sets out to do. With a mission rooted in empowerment and long-term growth, the committee curates programs that equip members with the tools, skills, and support networks they need to thrive.

Whether it’s hosting leadership initiatives, organizing mentorship programs, or facilitating targeted networking events, the committee operates with clear purpose. Their goal? To create impactful experiences that not only elevate individual careers but also strengthen the broader commercial real estate and construction industries.

The Professional Development Committee is led by Gena Cochran, Brittani Davis, and Lindsay Czapski.

Brittani Davis - Chair

For committee member Brittani, joining Professional Development was a deliberate choice to invest in herself—and others. “I was looking for professional growth opportunities that were not available through my employer,” she says. “I wanted to expand my network and develop leadership skills.” That mindset of proactive growth is central to the committee’s work. Through collaborative planning and intentional programming, members are empowered to lead in ways that align with their strengths and ambitions.

Being part of the committee has allowed Brittani to “step into different roles, grow in a supportive environment, and build relationships with wonderful women outside of my immediate circle.” She also credits the experience with helping her explore areas of the industry she might not have encountered otherwise. For many members, the committee becomes a launchpad—where knowledge sharing, confidence building, and purposeful career advancement intersect.

Lindsay Czapski - Co-Chair

For Lindsay, joining the Professional Development Committee was a natural extension of her passion for growth and connection. “I’m passionate about continuous learning and growth—not just for myself, but for those around me,” she shares. By contributing to the committee, she saw an opportunity to help shape initiatives that empower women in commercial real estate and support their professional journeys. “I also wanted to connect with other women in the industry,” she adds, “and help shape initiatives that support our career advancements.”

One standout initiative Lindsay highlights is the committee’s 10-month CREW Network Mentorship Program, which currently supports 20 matched mentors and mentees. “We’re working through the structured Network guide together,” she explains, “with support and resources tailored to help both mentors and mentees grow in their careers.” The structured yet flexible format ensures that each participant gets value, while the relationships built are deeply meaningful. For Lindsay and the rest of the committee, this program exemplifies how intentional support and targeted development can create lasting, purposeful impact.
